This day-long program is designed to increase girls' interest in mathematics, science and engineering through immersive hands-on experiences, foster awareness of career opportunities in scientific and technical fields, and provide girls with positive role models who are active in STEM studies and careers. The annual "Expanding Your Horizons" STEM Career Day for middle school girls will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Penn State's University Park Campus. Students will be receiving a course curriculum guide, a course selection form and a tracking sheet. Jon Heinly, Youth Minister, will be meeting with all 8th graders in the Lancaster Mennonite system to discuss the course selection process for high school. If you have questions or comments, contact Tracy Habacivch.Įighth grade students will be completing the course selection process for 9th grade this month. Items will include continuing the community-building lessons in 6th grade and starting the multiple intelligences lessons in 7th grade. Grades 6 and 7 students will be receiving guidance lessons from Tracy Habacivch during the month of January. Tests will be returned during the spring conferences. It is important for your student to have a restful night of sleep before each test as well as eating a healthy and sustaining breakfast. We also welcome parents calling to request an appointment with their students. Students may ask their teachers to visit the counseling office.
